Here's a homemade cover of Dayton, Ohio alternative rockers The Breeders' song "New Year" by Nashville, Tennessee's Philip Coates, with a special appearance by a cat.

Oakland, California lo-fi experimental artists Tune Yards take The Breeders' 1993 single "Cannonball" that was hailed by VH1, Pitchfork Media, and Rolling Stone as one of the greatest anthems of that era, and make it.... different.

It's still quirky and keeps a lot of the original's hooks, so... I guess I don't hate it?  

"Drivin' on 9" by The Mayhaws

 

The Tallahassee Arts Guide describes local traditional Folk/World band The Mayhaws as "Making The Ramones sound like Hank Williams."

Here's their take on this country-tinged ballad popularized by Lollapalooza vets The Breeders.

Speaking of driving on 9, if you're heading to the Delaware beaches this summer, I'd suggest this route from Townsend down to Magnolia.  You skip the expensive tolls around the Air Force Base, and it's really not all that far out of the way.
