"I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" by MxPx

The natural choice for the 500th cover song featured on Daily Cover Song is 1988 (or 1993 for the Yanks) Celtic folk jam "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)," originally by the Reid twins, AKA The Proclaimers, as performed by Bremerton, Washington skate punk band MxPx.

As a bonus, the trio toss in a brief "Inception"-esque cover within a cover with their nod to Cheap Trick's 1978 single "Surrender."

For a cover by The Proclaimers, their version of "Whole Wide World" can be found here.

"Whole Wide World" by The Proclaimers

Arguably the greatest bespectacled identical twin Celtic folk band ever to exist, The Proclaimers throw down some harmonies with Scots accents thicker than Lauren Boebert's skull on this remake of Wreckless Eric's 1977 jam "Whole Wide World."

Thanks to the movie "Stranger than Fiction," I can't hear this song without conjuring up mental images of making out with Maggie Gyllenhaal.

That's not necessarily a bad thing.
