"I Remember You" by The Ataris
Anderson, Indiana pop punk band The Ataris cover Toms River, New Jersey glam metal band Skid Row's 1989 power ballad "I Remember You."
Though the tune's about reminiscing of a love gone by, it could also be about remembering those who were lost during military action.
Or, it could be about me remembering all of the lyrics to a song that I hadn't listened to in roughly three decades.

"Midnight City" by Saint Saviour
Antibes, France electronic music duo M83 released the song "Midnight City" in 2011. It features a simple yet catchy as all get out synth hook, and a video with a gaggle of miscreant vandalistic mutant children with glowy eyes.
The song was covered by Teesside, UK singer/songwriter Saint Saviour.
I love the instrumentation with the bells and the hushed vocals.
The high-pitched yelps during the chorus grate on my nerves a bit, though.

"Nights in White Satin" by Panama
In 1978, French disco/worldbeat band Panama funkified the 1967 hit "Nights in White Satin," originally a symphonic art rock song from Birmingham, UK group The Moody Blues.

"The Metro" by Kill My Coquette
Los Angeles, California rock band Kill My Coquette cover new wave band Berlin's 1981 hit "The Metro."
I originally misread their name as "Kill My Croquette," and wondered who would DARE kill a gorgeous deep fried chicken roll up.
Though, the answer was obvious.
Marie Callender would,

"Super Freak" by Big Daddy
Buffalo, New York funk star Rick James' 1981 single "Super Freak" was hilariously redone by Big Daddy, a doo-wop throwback from (I'm pretty sure) Culver City, California.
If their Everly Brothers-esque delivery of the line "I really like to taste her" doesn't tickle your funny bone, your sense of humor is likely broken.

"Gold Guns Girls" by The Wind and the Wave
Austin, Texas duo The Wind and the Wave stock a slew of eclectic covers in their repertoire, so I let Jess choose which of their covers would get featured here.
She went with their take on Toronto, Canada post punk synth band Metric's 2009 single "Gold Guns Girls."
Their version is super impressive, but is it ever gonna be enough? Is it ever gonna be enough?
For a cover by Metric, their version of The Church's "Under the Milky Way" can be found here.

"Sexual Healing" by Hot Chip
British indietronica band Hot Chip cover Marvin Gaye's 1982 post disco slow jam "Sexual Healing" in a disjointed style that sounds almost like Max Headroom's singing it.
It's hard to put into words just how uncomfortable that makes me feel.

"Folsom Prison Blues" by The Folkadelics
Country legend Johnny Cash's 1955 rockabilly song "Folsom Prison Blues" was revamped by The Folkadelics, who have a blog indicating that they're out of London, but their Facebook page showed only dates in and around New York City.
Their version is a bit slower and bluesier... the perfect music to sharpen a shiv to.

"Love Yourself" by Dashboard Confessional
Boca Raton, Florida indie band Dashboard Confessional serve up an acoustic rendering of Ontario, Canada teen heartthrob Justin Bieber's 2015 pop single "Love Yourself."
Surprisingly, the band make it through (by my calculation) damn near 87% of the tune before turning it all emo and weird.
For a cover of Dashboard Confessional, Millington's version of "Vindicated" can be found here.

"Another Saturday Night" by Stringybark
It's another Saturday morning, meaning we're a mere twelve-ish hours from another Saturday night.
Clarksdale, Mississippi soul/R&B icon Sam Cooke first sang "Another Saturday Night" in 1963.
Since that time, there have been over 80 different versions released.
This one's in the running for my favorite.
Sydney, Australia father/son/daughter team Stringybark rock this one out, with girlfriend absolutely slaying it on the accordion.
I like their band name, too. Short and sweet and easier to spell than Eucalyptus Obliqua.

"Never Gonna Give You Up" by Barry Manilow
Legendary soft rocker Barry Manilow covers "Never Gonna Give You Up," the 1987 Rick Astley dance pop number that had a major resurgence through the 4Chan inspired bait and switch prank dubbed the rickroll.

"Solsbury Hill" by Reina Del Cid
Los Angeles, California by way of Fargo, North Dakota indie folk band Reina Del Cid cover the 1977 progressive pop single "Solsbury Hill," the solo debut from former Genesis member Peter Gabriel.
The song's lyrics are (presumably) about the city of Batheaston in England. along the north bank of the River Avon, which can be easily seen from the summit of the hill.
As this video footage was shot on a bluff overlooking the Pacific, they'd have a tougher time seeing the city lights of Bath, which would be 5,387 miles away.
To see this distance, they would all have to eat, like, twenty billion pounds of carrots.
For other Peter Gabriel covers, Lowland Hum's version of "Sledgehammer" can be found here, and Bon Iver's version of "Come Talk to Me" can be found here.

"I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" by MxPx
The natural choice for the 500th cover song featured on Daily Cover Song is 1988 (or 1993 for the Yanks) Celtic folk jam "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)," originally by the Reid twins, AKA The Proclaimers, as performed by Bremerton, Washington skate punk band MxPx.
As a bonus, the trio toss in a brief "Inception"-esque cover within a cover with their nod to Cheap Trick's 1978 single "Surrender."
For a cover by The Proclaimers, their version of "Whole Wide World" can be found here.

"Always Something There To Remind Me" by Clock Strikes Thirteen
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania slowcore band Clock Strikes Thirteen cover "Always Something There To Remind Me," a song that I -- being a child of the '80s -- had always attributed to Somerset, UK synthpop band Naked Eyes, with their 1982 release.
But, theirs was actually a revival cover of a 1964 song from Brooklyn, New York soul pianist Lou Johnson, who gets credit for the initial version.

"Bus Stop" by MonaLisa Twins
Vienna, Austria sibling band MonaLisa Twins released a web version of the 1966 hit "Bus Stop" by The Hollies.
Musically, they're on point.
But, the real fun is in the video. Quirky and hilarious. My guess is that these two are really fun at parties.
Though the entire clip is fantastically peculiar, my favorite part is the designation of the umbrella as "Employee of the Month."
Rumor has it that the umbrella was given the honors over this inanimate carbon rod by the slightest of margins.

"Got You (Where I Want You)" by The Chemical Lizards
Fayetteville, North Carolina punk trio The Chemical Lizards stir up a hefty dose of nostalgia with their cover of 1998 post-grunge song "Got You (Where I Want You)," originally by Hollywood, California band The Flys.
The video features the guy from "Dead to Me" and a pre-Xenu cupcake Katie Holmes, as those two apparently starred in a movie together. If the interwebs ain't fibbing, you can stream it on PlutoTV.

"Madness" by The Pretty Reckless
The little girl who starred in "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" is all growed up and leading a hard rock group from New York City called The Pretty Reckless.
In this studio session, they perform a stripped-down acoustic version of "Madness," the 2012 spacy single from Devon, UK synth rock band Muse.

"Bad Habits" by Conquer Divide
Rochester, Michigan serves as a home base of sorts for femme metalcore band Conquer Divide, though members are spread out over three countries and three states.
Band practices are few and far between, as members have to travel a collective 5,133 miles to meet in Michigan... not counting the gal who resides in England.
Here, they brutalize (but, in a good way) commercially successful 2021 dance pop song "Bad Habits" by West Yorkshire, UK singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran.

"Dirty Work" by Birtha
Los Angeles, California early '70s rock band Birtha cover Steely Dan's 1972 song "Dirty Work."

Tee hee. I'm 12.

"I Was Made For Lovin' You" by The Han Solos
May the Fourth be with you!
Perth, Australia band The Han Solos cover the 1979 song "I Was Made For Lovin' You" by New York City face-painted shock rockers Kiss.
The venue was Whale and Ale, which is still in operation.
Their menu features a garlic prawn pizza
So, excuse me while I search for plane tickets to Western Australia.

"Nookie" by Gliss
Danish/American duo Gliss perform an,,,, interesting.... version of Jacksonville, Florida group Limp Bizkit's 1999 nu metal song "Nookie."
When they play this song live, the crowd forms a mosh pit in which the dancers sway a few times before falling asleep.
For another Limp Bizkit cover, K Flay's version of "Break Stuff" can be found here.

"Voices Carry" by Desert Sharks
Happy Tuesday!
Here's a cover of 1985 new wave hit "Voices Carry" by Boston, Massachusetts band 'Til Tuesday courtesy of New York City gloom punk band Desert Sharks.
The only way that there would be sharks in the desert is if they were picked up by a giant tornado and carried over the dunes, then dropped.
And, that's just absurd.
But, hopefully not TOO absurd, as I've written a screenplay about this exact thing happening.
I call it "Tornark," which is a clever combination of the words "tornado" and "shark."
Seriously hoping that it takes off, because these student loans aren't going to pay themselves.

"Comedown" by Mayday Parade
On this May Day, here is Tallahassee, Florida emo pop band Mayday Parade with their version of "Comedown," the 1995 release from London, UK post-grunge band Bush.
I'll peg Gavin Rossdale's euphoria at a mid-level, so like an altostratus cloud.
Altostratus clouds are generally between 8,000 and 15,000 feet in the air.
That makes the average alto stratus cloud approximately 11,500 feet in the air.
Using the Rapid Tables website, this equates to roughly 3,505 meters above the ground.
I suck at Physics, so can't confirm this, but this website says that objects fall at a rate of 9.8 meters per second.
So, it should take just shy of six minutes for Gavin to come back down from this cloud.
